First "Create new account" for yourself, if you do not already have one.
On the left side menu, if you are signed in, click on "Create content". If you are a smarty pants, left-click or other-click on "Create content", then select something like "open in new tab", so you can still see these instructions AND the window you are trying to create a webpage in, by selecting the underlying page or tab to switch views.
Select "Page", then type in a few words in the "Tittle:" box that you want to show up larger at the top of your page.
Select the green "Menu settings" to expand those options.
In the "Menu link title:" box put the length, space, then the boats designer or name. Please keep it short, like the rest of the listings.
Next select the "Parent item:" box, scroll to the top, and select the type of boat you are listing (Canoe, Kayak, Dinghy, Launch, etc.)
Next select the "Weight: " box and put in the length. I think it only accepts numbers up to 50, so larger boats just use 50. This orders the listed boats by length.
The next box down is the big one, where you actually enter the content of your page. Just type in all the words you want. You could leave it at that, scroll to the very bottom of the bigger page (not just the input box you have been typing in) and click on the "Save" button.
Once you save, you can go back and "Edit" your page, and get fancy:
Adding pictures. There are many ways, but the most reliable is:
1. find a picture and get it into your computer, on your hard disk, in a place where you can find it easily.
2. try to get the picture file size between 10 and 100 kb... any larger and you are just wasting our storage expenses. Use your own photo editing software.
3. in edit mode on this website (same as create page mode) scroll down and select "File attachments"
4. Browse to find your picture file on your computer.
5. On your computer, sellect that photo (click, enter, open, double click... who knows how your computer steps forward).
6. Back now on our website, select "Attach".
7. After a moment(s), you will see something like:
....tp://rabblebabble.org/sites/default/files/yourfilename.jpg
below your file that you just uploaded for storage on our website.
8. Copy (Ctrl C) the part after .org by highlighting then copying
/sites/default/files/yourfilename.jpg
Be sure to include the first slant.
9. Go back up to the big text box that will be your displayed web page. Put the cursor somewhere, usually at the beginning or end of a paragraph. Select the picture icon from the box's toolbar.
10. Another box opens up, then paste (Ctrl V) where the cursor is already flashing (in the URL box) the previously copied location of the picture file you uploaded onto our website. For fun, also select in the "Align" box either Left or Right. You can play with other selections later, on a subsequent edit.
11. Select "OK" and your picture should appear in the big text box you did all the typing in.
12. You can re-size the picture by grabbing the corner with the mouse, then moving the mouse with the button held down. Release and repeat if necessary. You must right-click or other-click on the picture, select "Image properties", unlock then lock again the picture size, then "OK" again, or else the resizing you did will not get saved.
Adding links. This is easier than pictures, and a great way to make it easier for someone looking at your web page to find out more information about all the little details you mention on your site.
1. Using another tab, window, or browser, find the website you are going to provide a clickable link to.
2. Go to the top of that window and copy the URL (highlight the website's address in the one-line box near the top, then press the (Ctrl) key and then also press the "c" key.)
3. Go to your page on this site that you are editing.
4. highlight one to a few words in your text that you want to turn into a clickable link.
5. Select the link icon (one chain link over world icon).
6. Paste (Ctrl and v) into the little box where the cursor is already flashing.
7. Mouse up slightly higher and select the "Target" tab. Scroll in the Target window for "New window", then click "OK". This makes it so when someone clicks the link you just made, a new window or tab opens at that new place, instead of replacing all of what they were reading with the new linked website.
8. The link you just made is in green type, signifying a clickable link.
